Hello, readers and fellow food fans!
My name is Sarah, and cooking for the important people in my life is 100% my love language. As my intro states, I have worked in the restaurant industry for quite some time. I’ve held almost every position from front to back of house, and have learned a lot of things along the way. In addition to being privy to restaurant intel, my culinary prowess began many years prior to TredSafe shoes. Growing up in the Midwest, I was constantly at the heels of my mom who was always making delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for the whole family. I’m pretty sure that’s where it all began. I have chosen to use Substack as a platform to share some of those recipes and methods with you lovely people.
I look forward to submitting recipes as well as tips and tricks of the trade. I firmly believe in cooking things you actually want to eat. I know that may sound simple or trite, but what’s the point of attempting a convoluted dish if you’re not interested in the final result?
Way back before culinary school, I worked as a corporate writer in a sea of grey cubicles. The best part of my day was coming home and getting in the kitchen. I think that is the audience I am trying to reach. Those who seek comfort of their stove, favorite cast iron pot or pan, and a wooden spoon. Providing nourishment to your family, or even just yourself, is a place of solace. Anyone else feel that?
My goal is to post at least three times a week. Posts will include dishes I cook often for myself and my family. There will be a mix of both savory and sweet. I often gravitate towards comfort foods, Italian cuisine, and things with Asian influence. I love researching foods from all cultures and cuisines, and always work with what is in season at my local market. My recipe repertoire is quite vast, and like any other living creature I tend to go through phases.
So, I hope you follow me on this journey as I navigate this (new to me) platform, and as I try to decipher my scribbles and notes from years of success, as well as some failures, in my kitchen. Welcome!
~Sarah
